Doing great thanks!

well, our house is finally in recovery. After J got sick, with what we now know is the Roto Virus, I got it and poor Chris had to take most of Friday of and look after J as well as me. Vomiting from both ends is not the best way to spend a weekend, and I can honestly say that my son is absolute STAR for coping with this FREAKIN UGLY virus as well as he did.
Jason was back to his usual great self by Friday and I am just seeing the tail end of it now (no pun intended - if anyone even gets it which they probably wont - but I know what I mean!). So today is 'clean the house like mad' day, and laundry day. I went to dress J this morning and relised that he was out of pants. How the hell do you run out of pants??? Well, we were both sick and I niether had the time or the energy to do laundry. And with J throwing up - from both ends - on EVERYTHING both he and I own - well, you see how you could run out of pants.
And that about sums everything up. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, my babys taking a nap and Im having a break from scrubbiing the mould of the walls in the bathroom.
All is right with the world!
And in other breaking news...Jason is one step closer to crawling. Hes on his hands and knees a lot more often now and he rocks quite a bit, and hes started doing a funny kind of backward shuffle. He doesnt do it a lot, but he can do it! YAY!

our poor little boy...

Jason has his first proper illness. Hes had the sniffles before, but as of 2.30am Friday morning he has been properly sick. Our poor baby has been vomiting and suffering what can only be described as explosive diarrhoea (had to look that one up) for nearly three days. Well, the vomiting stopped yesterday about mid-day, but the other end is on high alert.
Hes grizzly, listless and has only eaten two table spoons of spaghetti and 100mls of formula since Friday. Hes a star though cos hes trying to smile and hes not wollowing in it at all. If you try to distract him he does his best to let you succeed. Poor little guy's been on Pamol, an anti-vomiting solution and a special re-hydration drink since Saturday and it absolutly breaks my heart. We finally got to the doctor this morning - their not in good supply in the country during the weekend although we did talk to one on the phone on Saturday - as well as the Well Child Hotline - FLUCK they are USELESS. But anyway...
Hes either got a tummy bug or maybe Campha labacta (have NO idea on the spelling) but neither are serious. The only thing that might turn nasty is if he gets dehydrated but we have been combating that quite well with Pediolyte. For most of Saturday afternoon I was feeding him 10mls of the stuff from a syringe every ten minutes. Now hes drinking it from his bottle nearly every time I offer it to him which would be about 4 or 5 times an hour I would guess.
Its so heartbreaking! The worst is not when hes crying or grizzly or vomiting or whatever - the worst is when hes absolutly quiet and looks up at you with his big sad blue eyes, and no matter what you do he just wont smile. I really really really miss my little boys smile.
Well, hes finally having a nap - the routine is out the window for now - and I guess I better do some more laundry before he wakes. He has vomited or pooed on nearly every thing he and I both own - and definatley every pair of pj's we both have. Poor little boy!!!

Its all just a walk in the park...

Today we did something very exciting. We took Jason to the park for the first time. We all had a blast, and Jase particularly loved the swings. His Dad took him down the slide a couple of times, but J only laughed when I made a big deal of it, so Im thinking maybe he didnt get the point of the whole thing. He sure did understand the swings though! We knew he would cos one of his faverite things about the jolly jumper is when I disconect the harness and swing him around the lounge in it. He goes mad for it!
He also did very very well last night. Went to bed at 7.45pm and didnt hear a peep till 6.00am!! It was probably Gods way of saying sorry for the night before, when he woke up 10.30pm, screamed till we got him up and then eventually ended up in bed with us for the night by 1.30am. 1.30 am. 1.30am. By 2.30am I was trying to get to sleep at the foot of the bed while my lovely son rolled about his 3 quarters of the King size bed and his Dad slept through it all. oh well. That was a particularly bad night, and the two previous to that he slept till 5.00am (with a couple of brief awakenings in the night) so cant really complain.

This post is really just an excuse to show every one some very cute photos taken today at the park, and yesterday just mucking about at home.

Gee Mum, can we get one of these at home?

My jolly jumper ROCKS!

It wasnt til after I took this photo that Chris told me what article of my clothing he had used to create j's 'homey' look...

The last couple of days.

A couple of minor firsts in the last two days.
Yesterday was Jase's first haircut. Just the fringe cos we're going for the surfer boy look. He coped very well although he tried to leap into my arms a few times while the hairdresser was doing his thing :)
Also, today he ate his first envelope. Not the whole thing, but on the one bite he did have he managed to get some ink as well as glue. Dont know what Im more concerned about, the glue or the bleach they used to whiten the paper. It was a mission getting the remainder of the envelope of him, and an even bigger one getting the paper out of his mouth, but I managed to distract him by finally letting him get his hands on the digital camera. Dont tell his father!
And lastly, when I put him down for his nap half an hour ago there were the usual assortment of noises coming from his room. I am getting pretty good at knowing which ones to answer, but today I heard a new one. Not upset, but it had a quiet earnest quality about it. So I went in to look and found my son on his side, hard up against the rails of his cot with each entire leg stuck through a different gap in the rails. Of corse I had to laugh, it was damn funny. Im not sure Jason saw the funny side, but Im sure if he could he would have thanked me ;)

Give us a kiss!

some of this envelope is in my tummy!!!

Bath time for my boys...

Nothing new to update, but had to post these beautiful photos of Jase and his Dad having a bath. They do this nearly every night, when Chris cant get in we use the bath seat. But I think J and his Dad both prefer it this way :)
